Living in the school residence is the most convenient option for getting to your classes on time, and it is a nice opportunity to live independently with other students. The school residence is in a charming villa in the safe and central Pinares neighborhood. There are three bedrooms for students. One of the bedrooms has a private bathroom, and two share a bathroom. All the bedrooms have natural light with a view of the garden or street. There is a fully-equipped kitchen for the students to use, as well as a spacious living-dining room for socializing. There is a huge garden where you can sunbathe, study or have a barbecue.

The residence is located about 10 blocks from the centre and 2 blocks from the nearest beach. There are shops, restaurants, markets, supermarkets, bus services and an ATM within a five-block radius. The main bus terminal is also within walking distance, so it is easy to plan and make trips outside of Punta del Este on the weekends.

Check-in is on Sundays. Check out is on Saturdays at 10:00. If you wish to arrive or leave on a different day this can be arranged in advance through the school.

Host Families

Living with a host family gives you a real insight into the Uruguayan lifestyle, and you will find your Spanish progress rapidly as you spend time with local people. All of the host families live within a radius of 5 blocks of the school – just a couple of minutes’ walk – in the safe and central Parque Rodó neighborhood. Staying with locals is the perfect way to accelerate your learning as you will be able to practice Spanish with the family outside of class. You will also get to know the culture and traditions of Uruguay through sharing everyday life with your hosts. You will share two meals a day with the family (breakfast and lunch), and you can arrange to spend time with them in the afternoons and at the weekend. The host families always give their guests a warm welcome and enjoy the opportunity to share Uruguayan life and culture with someone from a different country.

Single, double and twin rooms are all available. Each host family has a shared living or dining room where you are welcome to relax, study, and chat to your hosts and their family or friends who come to visit. If you have a preference you can request a family with or without children, with or without pets, a non-smoking house, or a private bathroom. You will be treated as another member of the family. Check-in is on Sundays and one meal is included that day (lunch or dinner depending on what time you arrive).

Check-out is on Saturdays at 10:00 after breakfast. If you wish to arrive or leave on a different day or have an extra meal with the family, this can be arranged in advanced through the school.

  • Included: towels, bed linen, weekly cleaning, your own set of keys, two meals a day (normally breakfast and lunch) with the family.
  • Not included: evening meals, use of the washing machine (there are several laundry services in the neighbourhood).
